Overview

Performs a variety of duties using various equipment and supplies to maintain established cleanliness and meet acceptable department standards of environmental areas.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Follows department procedures related to cleaning and operations to ensure a safe and clean environment in all areas.
    • 1.1 Responsible for reporting to work on time, properly completing the time card, in uniform, and ready to work, as observed by supervisor.
  • 2. Performs various trash removal duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
    • 2.1 Insures that all trash bins are cleaned regularly with no more than one discrepancy per week as observed by supervisor.
  • 3. Operates electric tow tractors and scooters ensuring safe operation at all times.
    • 3.1 Operates electric tow tractors used in the transportation of either trash, RMW, or recycling, observing vehicle safety procedures at all times as observed by supervisor.
  • 4. Teamwork and Leadership: Works towards team objectives to provide quality service throughout the hospital and initiates activities and behaviors in support of YNHH's mission and values.
    • 4.1 Demonstrates willingness to perform functions or tasks that may not be in the formal job description.
  • 5. Problem solving: Demonstrates critical thinking necessary to problem solving.
    • 5.1 Collects data relevant to the problem and provides suggestions or new approaches to the issue.
  • 6. Performs various project floor care duties to improve appearance of floors.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Six months demonstrated customer service related work experience required. Must successfully complete a training program provided by the Environmental Services Department and achieve competence in all duties.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent Customer Service and communication skills. Ability to read, write and perform basic math. Ability to work independently. Able to perform as part of the patient care team. Detail beyond this may be put in the Responsibilities section since it may vary by position.


Additional Information

Six months demonstrated customer service related work experience required with Floor Care experience.
